Brigitte Breault
Brigitte Breault is a Registered Psychologist with a master’s of education degree from the University of Toronto and an after-degree certification in marital and family therapy. She has also completed a certificate program entitled Understanding Emergency Worker Trauma through First Responder Health. Areas of focus are mental health assessments of children and adults, and counseling with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Some examples of forms of therapy practiced are CBT, EFT and EMDR. Brigitte is passionate about her work focusing on the best interests of the individual(s). When working with people the main goal is to be supportive and to help them to gain the strength they need to go out and be successful in their daily lives. Brigitte believes that everyone has strengths but that at times these strengths are not fully actualized as they may be impeded by negative life experience such as grief and trauma. Looking at the whole person is vital to any assessment and Brigitte spends the time to learn about the client in order to provide appropriate suggestions for different paths the individual(s) can take to move forward and lead a healthy, happy and productive life.

You’re not like anybody else—so I’ll provide bespoke therapy designed specifically for you.
I’m a trained, experienced professional, but I also know this: You’re the expert on you. So I’ll be endlessly curious—listening, asking questions, pushing back sometimes, searching for patterns, learning everything I can about you. Because being understood makes it easier to find self-acceptance and clarity.
If you’re someone who likes details, here’s some information about what I do.
I have expertise in helping people with these concerns:
Anxiety, worries, & managing stress; celebrating 2SLGBTQ+ identities; suicide prevention; trauma response & recovery; life changes; setting boundaries; relationship breakdown; infidelity; ADHD; grief & loss.
I’ve been working with kids of all ages for ages. Here are some of the child and youth issues where I’ve had success:
Childhood anxiety; friendship skills; self-esteem; child cognitive development; school refusal; adolescent emotional needs; challenging behaviours; self-harm; parenting problems; school situations; family conflict; worries; making friends; coping with separation or divorce; questioning gender identities, roles, and orientations.
I won’t try to impress/bore you with jargon or acronyms. But my work is informed by a few different models, including these:
Carl Rogers’ client-centred therapy; Gordon Neufeld’s attachment-based, developmental approach; Gabor Maté’s work on trauma; positive psychology; CBT; trauma-informed work; narrative therapy; culturally responsive counselling.

Hello! My name is Jasmin Khangura. My journey as a Registered Social Worker starts many years ago when I was working as a community based victim service worker. In this role, I supported people who experienced intimate partner violence and/or sexual violence as they navigated the afterlife of surviving violence. This included being beside them as they completed forensic exams, walking them through police support and reporting options, and prioritizing safety in the future by means of housing and mental supports.
My years in this work inspired me to go back to school and complete my undergrad degree in Psychology, with honours, where I completed a thesis research project looking at mitigating burnout symptoms for mental health first responders. A lot of the research that I used for the base of my research was from medical first responders. This qualitative (analysing works and responses from real people) and quantitative (analysing numbers and scales people fill out) research I completed helped me to better understand how burnout can creep in, how it can feel all consuming, and most importantly, how to work through burnout and return to regular life. This chapter of my education in psychology helped me to understand the person from within.
The next chapter of completing my masters degree in Social Work helped me to understand the person from outside their psyche. The context and structures that we all live in has an impact on us. Understanding these structures can help us to find power in what we can control and what we want to change. As we find this power, our inner world changes with it. My background if psychology and social work has given me the ability to see the whole person for who they are inside and outside.
Clients that come to see me are usually folks who have experienced trauma, witnessed trauma, or respond to trauma. Trauma can feel like it is something that gets stuck internally. The mind just can stop re-playing certain aspects of the event, the body keeps wanting to physically resolve what it couldn’t in the moment, and the person feels like they are just not themselves anymore. I am here to help get unstuck and help you get back to who you are. The theories that inform my work include Existentialism, Feminist lens, client-centered, anti-oppressive lens, and I am currently receiving supervision to assist in becoming an EMDR trained clinician.

I have been working along side first responders for 28 years of my career. First when I was dealing with crises and family emergencies as a social worker while working as a child protection worker where I worked with mostly police officers; and then 16 years where I worked as a therapist and social worker with injured workers through WorkSafeBC claims. I have also worked with the military and in private practice, i have dealt with sexual assault, addictions, PSTD, trauma, burns, amputations, spinal injuries all the thibgs you’ve seen….i’ve seen and supported others in dealing with.
As you already know, your jobs are tough, the cultural is tougher. I grew up a military brat, moving from place to place, so I understand the mentality of a station house where the needs of the collective must outweight the individual. You all move as a group, and are only as strong as you can keep one another safe. When that breaks down - someone gets hurt. That hurts you all, and you aren’t supposed to show it.
Well, I’m here to say, you are wrong about that. The military know it, and its time the fire house cultural changes too. I am here to help. I can support you with the anxiety, depression and fear (I said it) of the job. I can also support you when that stress leaks home to your loved ones, your partner and families, and into your soul.
I have worked from a solution-based, feminist, trauma-informed perspective and am trained in EMDR, CPT, Somatic, EFT, CBT, DBT and mindfulness Somatic therapy. My 28 year knowledge of these therapies will support you on your journey of self-discovery and it will build a stronger, more resilient sense of self and give you back the job you loved.
